It is hard to believe that more than 75 years have passed since Anne Frank met her tragic death in the concentration camp in Auschwitz. It was the diehard belief of the German Nazi regime that all Jews in Europe, in fact across the world should be wiped off the face of the earth. Ironically, Otto Frank, Anne’s father, decided to emigrate from Germany to Holland just to escape such a fate. Well, the Nazis swept across Western Europe in no time, and the Netherlands like Belgium and France, were quickly conquered by the Germans, and the annihilation program kicked into gear. As in Germany, Jews in conquered territories and countries were subjected to harsh and illogical regulations. For instance, Dutch Jews were forbidden to sit in their own gardens after 8 pm.
